Well Worth It, But A Nightmare Nonetheless

Well, we finally did it...

I wanted to pull my hair out on a number of occasions, and there were definitely a few curse words used :) But at the end of each day, we were proud of what we had accomplished! And by the end of the week, it was complete! Our many hours of hard, and I mean HARD work, paid off. We love what feels like our brand new home!!

Here are the pictures...
Before & After

I thought I loved my kitchen before?
I am obsessed with my kitchen now!

Here are a few pictures of the painting in progress...
Take note of how tall our entry way is... 18 feet to be exact.
Jace mastered it! Thank goodness, cause I was NOT getting up on that ladder!

SO glad it's done! It'll be awhile before either one of us touches a paint brush or roller again!

The First Of Many

I realize that it is 12:30 a.m on what is now Monday, April 4th... but I'm going to write as if it were still Sunday, April 3rd.  Today (Sunday) marks the 3rd anniversary of my first date with Jace.

It was the Friday before General Conference in the year 2008, when I got the text message... yes, I said TEXT MESSAGE.  Very romantic :)  It went something like this:

"Hey, so I have some extra tickets to hear our prophet of the Lord... Sunday morning. Whaddya say?"

How could I possibly say No to that?

I was dressed and ready to go by 7:30 a.m on that Sunday morning... anxiously awaiting his arrival to pick me up. 45 minutes had passed and at 8:15, I thought for sure I had been stood up.  I was confused, sad and angry.  I decided I would call to see what was going on.  After many attempts he finally answered.  Apparently, his alarm had not gone off and he was running ridiculously late.  He had not even left his house yet!  Why he hadn't called to inform me of this?  I have no idea.  As upset as I was, he was easy to forgive :) I then suggested that we meet in Orem, hoping to save some time, rather than having him drive down from Lehi to Springville to pick me up.  With it being the Sunday Morning session, we had to be in our seats for Music & The Spoken Word by 9:00 a.m.  Believe it or not, we made it. (However, that should not come as a shock to most of you who know the way Jace drives!) We even picked up his friend Zach and his date on the way.

All in all, it was a wonderful first date.  We were inseparable from that day forward.

Our first picture together... Waiting in the long line of cars in the parking garage after the session.

The following April conference in 2009, we were able to go to the Sunday morning session again, and even last year, 2010, we attended the same session once more.  This year, we hoped to keep the tradition going, but were unable to get tickets.  So my husband, the sweetheart that he is, surprised me with flowers this morning in honor of our first date 3 years ago.  We watched conference in the warmth of our home while in our P.J's eating bagels :)

Suzy Homemaker

Definition: a housewife who manages a household, esp. with enthusiasm

That's what the husband called me when he came home and saw THIS...

I will admit, I am SO not crafty so this was quite the accomplishment!  I LOVE how it turned out and am very proud of my domestic-ness :)

The EAR

Since The Stork hasn't visited us quite yet, I'm going to give in to my "Mommy Blogger" tendencies and blog about Jett.  Yes, you heard me.  Until a real human one comes along, she's my baby for now :)

As most of you know, Jett is a Chihuahua, Yorkie mix.  Perfectly proportioned with both her mamma and her daddy's physical traits... The short Chihuahua hair, and the floppy Yorkie ears.  THE FLOPPY EARS... That sealed the deal.  (We are SO not pointy chihuahua ears people) Well, as of late, little missy's left ear has been doing this...

Is it horrible that I just want to stick a piece of duct tape on it??
And this is one of my favorite pictures, it's hilarious.  But that ear... seriously?
Hopefully, it's just a phase or something.

I heart V.DAY

I can speak for MOST women (some would agree to disagree) when I say that Valentine's Day is the second most anticipated holiday next to Christmas!

A day dedicated to receiving candy and flowers??

Umm, yes please.

An excuse to get dressed up and go to a fancy-er than normal restaurant?

Totally awesome.

I could go on and on and on, but I'll spare you all my ranting.  My sweetheart and I did not fail to celebrate this year...
All dolled up and ready for our DATE!

Dinner at The Melting Pot... yes, we splurged!

 My favorite part... dessert :)

Our Kneaders breakfast on Valentine's morning... delish!

And of course... chocolate dipped strawberries are a MUST for Valentine's Day.

Some friends of ours hosted a murder mystery party the Saturday before Valentine's... it was a blast! I especially had fun dressing up for my character,  Dorothy May Bradford. The flashy and eccentric older sister of the murder victim. Can you see it?? Such a fun night!
P.S. I'm so lucky to call this guy 'MINE'... love him to pieces!

Missed A Few

I just realized that I haven't done my "Gratitude" list at the end of any of my posts for the last few months.  Not because I haven't been grateful, mostly because I've just been forgetful. I figured now is as good a time as any to catch up a bit...

I am grateful for my 12 week old, extremely smart and hilarious puppy that we like to call Jett.
I am grateful for Cuties.
I am grateful for leggings (so comfy)
I am grateful for boots.
I am grateful for leggings worn with boots.
I am grateful for the "spring" like days we've been having (only in Utah can you call 40 degrees and sunny, "springlike". Seriously?)
I am grateful for my guilty pleasure T.V. shows which include, The Bachelor, Courtney & Kim Take New York, AND Bridalplasty (judge me all you want, I love them)
I am grateful for my husband, duh, he's the coolest.
I am grateful for my totally awesome work schedule.
I am grateful that January is almost over.

Winter Blues

I'd rather be here:
Or here:
Doing this:
Or this:
Instead, I'm stuck in this dreaded Utah Winter.  Freezing to death even with 12 layers on.  I'm over it.  How about you?
